BLOCK:  In 1982, the FDA approved IOSAT potassium iodide tablets for blocking the thyroid's absorption of cancer-causing radioactive iodine (only the thyroid absorbs iodine). Saturate the thyroid with potassium iodide's stable iodine so it won't absorb radioactive iodine, the predominate radioisotope released from a nuclear reactor release or nuclear bomb fallout.

DECONTAMINATE: Decontamination of yourself or your environment may be necessary. We offer radiation decontamination kits for dirty bomb type radiation such as Cesium, Strontium, Thallium, etc. or radioactive iodine I-131 specifically.

Thyro-block no longer manufactured:
Medpointe Pharmaceuticals has discontinued production of Thyroblock™ 130mg potassium iodine radiation tablets. This means that IOSAT is the only full strength tablet FDA approved and legally sold in the U.S.  This can be verified by doing a Discontinued Drug Products search for potassium iodide in the FDA's orange book.   In addition, to verify which brands of potassium iodide are FDA approved, and therefore legal to sell for radiation exposure in the U.S., search for potassium iodide in the orange book but select OTC instead of Discontinue Drug Products. The only brands of radiation pills listed are IOSAT tablets (full-strength KI tablet), ThyroShield (liquid) and ThyroSafe tablets (half-strength tablet). Any others you might see on the internet are illegally sold for radiation exposure.
